(Tech. Position 1) Operations Engineer - Linux Systems

Full-Time — Engineering / Charlestown, MA

Seeking an exceptional person to join a Systems Engineering / DevOps team.We seek someone who enjoys solving complex problems while contributing new ideas and techniques leading to continuous improvement for the team.  Candidates will work on a team of approximately ten people with an on call rotation.Performance is measured on individual as well as team results.Candidates must be highly motivated, proactive, organized, detail-oriented, possess outstanding communication and work well in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Build, operate, scale, and troubleshoot all of the company's SaaS infrastructure.
  • Provide operations coverage as part of an on-call pager rotation.
  • Work with other teams to make sure that the infrastructure and the applications that depend on it work harmoniously together.
  • Support other teams infrastructure needs on an as-needed basis.
  • Write tools for systems and infrastructure automation.
  • Collect and report on operational metrics for SLA reporting and capacity planning.
  • Monitor the health of our production infrastructure.

Qualifications

  • Has built systems and infrastructure supporting web applications in a production environment.
  • Has experience operating a 24/7 production web application
  • Broad Linux sysadmin experience
  • Experience with and preference for open-source tools for systems management
  • Large installation (100+ server, multi-site) experience
  • Experience coding for task automation, preferably in python but in perl at a minimum.

(Tech. Position 2) Senior Level Software Engineer

Full-Time — Engineering / Charlestown, MA

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop solutions for high-volume ingestion and transcoding of video assets in a continuous development, integration and deployment environment.
  • Contribute actively in software design discussions with product owners, front-end to server-side developers, and systems engineers to build a service that keeps pace with the fast growing and always evolving area of video on the web.
  • Design and develop highly scalable systems that are optimized for performance and deliver outstanding quality video.

Qualifications

  • MS/BS in Computer Science or related background preferred
  • 3 – 5+ years , experience with the full product development and release process, Agile preferred.
  • Experience building scalable, distributed, multi-threaded and highly available Web applications and consumer online services.
  • Expert  knowledge of Object-Oriented Design, Analysis, and Programming.
  • Experience with video encoding and codecs is a plus, obviously
  • Experience with high volume transaction processing is another huge plus

(Tech. Position 3) Tech. Support Engineer - Tier 1

This is a Global team, so this role will be interacting closely with Support offices in the US, Europe, and Asia, as well as with customers around the world.

Qualifications and Required Experience

  • College degree (CS degree preferred but not required)
  • 1-2+ years work experience in a Customer Focused position

  • Proven analytical / problem solving ability.
  • Proven ability to work with the team to quickly and calmly resolve technical issues.
  • Understanding of internet technologies including browsers, networking, firewalls & proxy servers
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new skills quickly.
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
  • Required to be flexible, detail oriented and organized with the ability to multi-task.
  • Strong data entry skills.

Technical Experience

  • Strong technology background with a comprehensive knowledge of PC-based (Mac a plus) applications and basic network applications, including knowledge of browser compatibility issues.
  • Working knowledge of web-based technologies, including HTML, XML, FTP, JavaScript, and Adobe Flash
  • Familiarity and working knowledge with online video and rich media
  • Exposure to video encoding applications
  • Working knowledge of Internet Networking processes
  • Competency in Spanish strongly preferred.

(Tech. Position 4) Technical Support Engineer - Production - Tier 2

Full-Time — Technical Support /Charlestown, MA

The ideal candidate is a dedicated problem solver, passionate about rich media technologies, and a proven customer advocate.   The company is looking for someone who is highly motivated with strong technical experience, excellent written and verbal communication skills and high enthusiasm for customer success.

Responsibilities will include working directly with customers via phone, email and live chat; to respond to technical issues, providing escalated technical and triage support for other team members, and actively contribute to our online community and knowledge database for up-to-date customer information and solutions.
 
This individual will also work closely with the company's Engineering, Product Management and QA teams to increase customer satisfaction by providing critical feedback and assistance for product enhancements. As a member of Technical Support, the candidate will be part of a Global team interacting closely with Support offices in the UK, Europe, and Asia, as well as with customers around the world.

Technical Experience

  • Strong technology background with a comprehensive knowledge of PC and/or Mac applications and network based products
  • Proficient Knowledge of  internet architecture including advanced troubleshooting in  networking, firewalls & proxy servers
  • Proficient Knowledge in web-based technologies, including HTML, CSS,XML, FTP, JavaScript, and Adobe Flash
  • Familiarity and working knowledge with rich media applications
  • Meaningful experience with online video and of video encoding applications is a plus
  • Experience in a fast paced production environment as a point of triage for all escalated  issues real-time with a strong emphasis on case management and resolution
  • Ability to manage multiple technical issues, identify trends and properly document information to ensure swift resolution
  • Exposure and working knowledge in at least one other programming language including Java, PHP, or .Net is a plus
  • Exposure to CRM tracking for all customer communications and case handling as well as exposure to Engineering and Product tools
